What is meant by caption text?

Caption text is a short text that is above, below or in the image as a complement to the image. Many people think that captions are the same as quotes, but they are different. Quotations are usually just text without pictures but can also include pictures. What distinguishes between text and quotations are quotations which are usually taken from books, songs or dialogues in films and are accompanied by the name of the author. While the caption is writing that is made to explain the image. Captions are used as a means of expression on social media.
